The Old Rectory

The Old Rectory is a fine country house set in beautifully maintained mature gardens. For the last 25 years since its conception, The Old Rectory has been owned and run by The Geoghegan family who have built its excellent reputation from scratch.

The Old Rectory is situated in the heart of the village of Ewhurst, nr Cranleigh, Surrey on the edge of the Surrey Hills. Overlooking the beautiful Saxon Church of St Peters, it is close to the Village Shop, Village Hall and Community Centre yet discreetly tucked away from any traffic, sitting in its own grounds giving an air of calmness and tranquillity.

We have 32 well-appointed en suite bedrooms both large and small. The majority of ground floor rooms have patio doors opening to the garden whilst the upstairs rooms are larger and all rooms offer traditional Victorian character with far reaching views of the Surrey Hills. The rooms are newly decorated, carpeted and equipped with televisions, telephones and ‘full profile’ beds, before our long term clients move in. Residents are free to bring items of their own furniture and pictures to personalise their rooms as they wish.

We pride ourselves in the high level of personalised care at the Old Rectory and offer a high staff/patient ratio. We can manage all medical ailments associated with the frail elderly and our trained nurses are supported by our local GP who has been our home doctor for over 12 years.

Our Physiotherapy Department is on hand to help with any physical treatments and specialises in hydrotherapy which takes place in our 35 degree heated therapy pool, providing buoyancy resistance and warmth to relieve pain, strengthen muscles and mobilise joints. The Therapeutic Unit is ideal for treatment of post-operative, accident, arthritic, stroke and sports injury cases. This includes treatment for painful backs and neurological disorders.

Alongside medical care we have our own hairdresser, chiropodist and manicurist who offer regular visits free of charge. We have a wide range of activities organised for the benefit of residents and include trips out, bridge classes, flower arranging, art classes, quiz’s and musical evenings. All activities are delivered by specialists in their field and are included in the fees. We place a high importance on quality food cooked using fresh ingredients from local suppliers. Residents often invite visitors to stay for a drink in the drawing room followed by a three course lunch and we receive many compliments about the quality of our food especially the wide range of homemade deserts on our famous desert trolley, life is for living after all!
