Delivering a decade of excellence
Thursday, April 22, marked the tenth anniversary of the day The Clavadel welcomed its first patients; 10 years at the heart of Guildford’s healthcare community and more than 10 years since Clavadel director Charles Geoghegan first unveiled his plans for a fresh approach to post-operative rehabilitation in the UK. Since that auspicious day, we have been privileged to care for the thousands of patients who have walked through our doors and continue to do so, entrusting us with their ultimate well-being.
A cause for celebration
We certainly couldn’t let the occasion pass without reflecting on successes to date by way of an anniversary reception for staff, patients, and invited guests.
The celebrations got underway at noon with champagne and canapés before Mr Geoghegan gave a speech recalling a decade of achievement that recognised our high level of staff retention – a testament to the happy and nurturing environment that everyone works so hard to foster. Indeed, many of our staff have been with us since the launch – 16 in total – each of whom were presented with a special gold star badge to adorn their uniforms.
Over lunch, the Clavadel kitchens reminded guests of the vital contribution they make on a daily basis by providing a delicious lunch of Spring Chicken followed by a berry pavlova. This was served at tables decorated with a centrepiece of herbs in a plant pot bearing a special inscription to commemorate the day, one of which was presented to each guest on leaving.
Toasting the future
Bringing the day to a close, staff rounded off the festivities with a drink at Rogues wine bar in Guildford to contemplate what lies ahead. It is always busy here at The Clavadel – the recent addition of pre-hab care is proving very popular, and the constantly evolving services and facilities on offer ensure that demand for rooms remains persistently high.
It has been a hugely rewarding 10 years. We have a firmly established reputation for clinical excellence that has made us a destination of choice among consultants and healthcare professionals alike – something of which we are justly proud, and a situation we will be constantly striving to maintain.
So, let’s raise a glass and look forward with eager anticipation to the decades to come!
