SIMPLY THE BEST: Celebrating expertise and devotion to duty

Every year, staff and management of The Clavadel gather together to recognise the selflessness and dedication that is the hallmark of everything we do; however, 2024 marked a special milestone: our ten-year anniversary of delivering the very best in pre- and post-operative care and rehabilitation to the people of Guildford, the South East, and beyond. 

Summer fun

On Thursday, June 27 we took advantage of a bright summer’s day to meet up at a new venue for us: The Boathouse in Guildford  ̶  and we couldn’t have been happier with how things turned out. Bedecked in colourful floral displays, a private terrace space afforded beautiful riverside views as we enjoyed a wonderful selection of tempting fare from the sharing platters and food boards on offer.

But before the celebrations got fully underway, there was an opportunity to hear from Director, Charles Geoghegan and Manager, Harriet Sugdon. Paying testament to a decade of high achievement, their speeches reflected on the vital role that every member of staff   ̶  many of whom have remained with the company since its inception  ̶  has played in the success story of The Clavadel. In recognition of such commitment and expertise, a total of 21 people received special long-service awards: 12 to mark ten years and 9 marking five years.

Letting loose

As the day unfolded, and drinks flowed along with the conversation, it was time to welcome our musical entertainment for the evening: Flat Pack Panda. For those of you unfamiliar with the name, the band plays funk, soul, rock, blues, Britpop, and indie tunes to anyone looking for a good time. These guys really know how to have fun, as the reception they received proved!

The next steps

When dusk descended and it was time to go our separate ways, guests agreed it had been a memorable occasion  ̶  not just for those who received honours but for everyone in attendance, all of whom have contributed to what have been a remarkable ten years of caring. So, be sure to look out for a blog in 2034 when we hope to be celebrating our 20th year. In the meantime, we’ll be focusing on continuing to deliver the high standards of clinical excellence that make The Clavadel so favoured by patients, while being a provider of choice among consultants and healthcare professionals alike.
